Screen saver still never starts...

My screen saver slide show on my new Acer laptop doesn't ever start after
the specified time. Vista Home Premium w/all updates and no spyware or
virus. I have other Acer and HP laptops that work fine. This laptop has
the good video and whatever, so it offers about 10 choices of picture
transitions. Even the standard one doesn't work. Something must be making
this computer think it's active. Any ideas? TIA, Paul

Since I first posted this (with no responses) I have removed Google Desktop,
that was running, indexing the disk. I thought maybe this activity was
keeping the laptop awake. Nope! Any other process that may cause my screen
saver to never start?

Hi I'm not quite sure but when I got my HP Pavilion A6433W last year in
October same thing and same problem. You might check and see if Windows
Vista Indexing is running because my computer after a while just started
working the way it was supposed I personally disabled the Windows Vista
Indexing and use Google Desktop hope this will help you out a little and you
and your family have a good mothers day.
