screen saver won't come on

I read all the threads and I don't have a wireless mouse. I have a dell
dimension computer and no matter what tricks I have tried I can't get the
screen saver to come on. Help

John here, customer advocate at Dell headquarters.

In order to help you, I first have to ask a few questions:

1) By saying the screen saver won't come on, by that do you mean tha
your desktop stays on all the time, or that it just goes to a blac
screen?

2) What model Dimension do you have, and what are its specs?

3) What version of Windows is installed?

4) What have you tried, and what have been the results?

I'll be happy to help in any way I can!

I have a Dell XPS 410, running with Windows Vista. I have found a
work-around to the problem. Someone said that if you run the screen saver on
random it doesn't work. So I changed it to fade and it does come on most of
the time. B-4 it would stay on my desktop and then go to sleep after 10
minutes. I still have a problem with the screen saver. Yesterday it took a
group of my pictures and played them as a screen saver. I hadn't changed
anything, had the screen saver set to pictures and the preview were the
pictures that came with Vist. I tried 2-3 times to stop my family pictures
playing as a slide show and the only was I could stop it was to delete them
from my hard drive. John, do you have another way I can contact you. I'd
like to ask you about the distortion my wide screen (20in) causes on
pictures. Thanks for your help. Linda
