screensaver doesn't work

Since a few days the screensaver on my Vista-Home Premium PC doesn't work
anymore, I'll get this message: insert a disk \device\Harddisk4\DR4.
I'd be grateful for help and/or advice.

System Restore back to when it did work.

If that fails - check your hard disk for errors - could be going bad.

You didn't happen to used to have another hard disk drive or external hard
disk drive conected, did you?

System Restore failed. The hard disk check didn't show any errors. It's the
item where the screensaver should import and show pictures from the Picture
file, all the other features work properly.
Could it be a register error?
I've been using an extern hard disk for 2 years now (Seagate Replica) and it
never caused any trouble. it's constantly connected to the PC via usb.
