SD Cards...again

Others have had similar questions - I have a DELL Inspiron 6400 running
Vista. I put an SD Card into the slot to copy pictures, but my system
doesn't recognize it at all. Nothing in my drives or any indication that this
slot exists at all. I've gone through Control Panel and also rebooted, but
nothing has changed. I can't believe reading an SD card can be very
complicated - anyone have suggestions that would make this card 'appear' for
me? Thanks.

If you have an SDHC (high capacity) card, then you'll need an SDHC card
reader.
If not then check your device manager to see if the on board card reader
driver is even installed.
On my Compaq, I have to go to the HP site, get the drivers, then install
them.
That is true for XP & Vista.

I have the correct hardware too since I dual boot with XP, the card reader
works fine and fast with XP but not with vista.
I end up booting more and more to XP, and sometimes I get bored and remain
there, using my new vista less
HELP!

As I said, neither OS (XP or Vista) automatically installed the needed
drivers for my on board card reader on my laptop...neither one. I had to
go to HP, dl and install the driver. I did use the same driver, the XP
one, for both XP and Vista.
Maybe you need do the same.
