I noticed a blog somewhere outlining the addin architechture for WLM. Since
I was thinking about moving to Google Calendar, and I noticed their api, I
thought that I would attempt an addin for Live Messenger for Google
Calendar. However on close examination I have the feeling that there's going
to be restrictions in letting me do something like that. WLM would be the
perfect candidate to remind me of upcoming events in my online calendar,
whether it is Live Calendar or Google Calendar. Something like alerts when
traffic on some road is busy...(which messenger has provided for sometime
now)

Is this something that can be attempted?

Greetings,

Yes you could make something like this. If you're interested in less restrictions than what
the managed Add-In SDK in WLM can do, you could use the Messenger Plus Live scripting
architecture (although that requires Plus to be used): http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/
