Search Companion keeps opening

Everytime I hit the space bar, the Search Companion opens. It doesn't matter
which program I am using. Does anyone know how I can stop this happening

Windows XP Home Version.

I hadn't intended to post under uddate, but any advice would be much
appreciated.
