When I try to use the Search function in Explorer (search C:\), i
almost consistently fails to find the file, yet when I do a manua
search, the file is there in all it's glory. I've checked spellings
used wildcards, etc., but still Explorer fails to find the files. An
ideas? This is frustrating....:sarc

have you adjusted your indexing options to insure the folder is included in the index.

I'm not on my home system right now, but will look into it. Please don'
tell me that I HAVE to have Fast Indexing on in order to use the Searc
feature....I seem to remember I turned it off because it was thrashin
my hard drive

once the indexing is done it behaves quite nicely.

unless you told it to search the index and not the whole system that was a possibility.

I prefer (and recommend) the latter suggestion of searching the entire system.

I tell the indexer to do its job on both hard drive and all partitions.
