Search for the latest version of Windows Update program doesn't re

When searching for the latest version of the Windows Update program there is
no response. It states that a/few security warnings should pop up but none
pop up.

My computer does teh same. Windows XP with SP2 installed. ALso have McAfee
Security Suite installed. Windows Updtae just states it is checking for the
latest version of Windows Update and then goes no further.

go to the windows update site and click on the "get help and support" link
then run the windows update troubleshooter. scroll down and follow the
instructions for manual installation instructions for windows update
controls.

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

If that didn't work either, and you have Windows XP SP2 installed,
check that the WuWebControlClass is enabled in Internet Explorer:
