Search - or not?

After not using search indexing (wonderful new Vista feature - one of the
few 'advances' on XP) since install - switched it on yesterday (after dozens
of 'updates') to see if it could now find it's own arsehole with both
hands - after chugging away for about 20 minutes (rebuilding a database i
assume) it found lots of files i don't have and it didn't find files i do
have

disabled it again of course

Any short term plans to fix this?
