Search produces Windows Explorer error

When I type the letter 'v' in the search box on the start menu,
message box pops up saying Windows Explorer has encountered an error an
needs to close. It then restarts and will then work fine. It onl
seems to do it when I type 'v'

I've tried re-indexing, and I've tried running shelexview and disablin
the non windows entries

I'm running Home Premium SP

Dunno, but certainly v-v-v-v-v-ery odd. V for virus perhaps.

I agree with Jon that it's very odd.

One idea I have: there is a corrupt file or folder with V in its name.

The above is an idea, not a solution, sadly.
