In cases of last resort, the older Windows versions allowed one to search
for words or phrases within files. It was slow, but sometimes helpful (or
necessary).

Try as I may, I cannot get a word search to work on Vista. Is that just the
way it is??

I have tried using Tags, but that didnt work either.

Thanks in advance

From Rock MVP:
From an Explorer window, tap Alt | Tools | Folder Options | Search. There
are three selectable option for searching file names only or content or
both.

Resources:
You cannot find files when you search a Windows Vista based computer:

It's built into Vista, you don't need to install the desktop search
anymore. The old 'word search' isn't gone, it's on your start button.

Well, I find the search routine but it doesnt seem to find words or phrases
embedded in a file. I have tested it with search phrases which I know
exist in target files. It just doesnt find them.

Maybe Im just doing something wrong.
