searching problem

iam havin a trouble in searching for a file which iam sure its in my "D" drive

when i use the search opstion , no result appear

it only search in my "C" drive by defult

so how to make the searching option to search for the specific file through
my whole computer

Try this, open computer, select the "D" drive and type in the item for which
you want to search in the search box at the top right of the Window.

To search all locations, open Windows Explorer, if you don't see Searches in
the left pane, click "More," click Searches and click Everywhere, then type
your search criteria in the search box in the top right of the Window and
press enter..

i know i can do it by advanced search

but before format my PC i just type any name of any file in the searching
and the computer will search for the file in both drive "C" and "D"

now it only search in "C"

how can i make it search on hole my PC without using advaced search

After you formatted, did you make sure the D drive was indexed. The only
reason I can think of as to why it did it before and not now is that perhaps
indexing is turned off on the D drive.

Open Computer on the Start Menu, select the drive, right click, select
properties, make sure the is a check in the box next to "Index this drive
for faster searching," click ok. If there is a check, try this, remove the
check, click ok, reboot the system, place a check there and click ok as it's
possible, even if selected, for some reason the system is not indexing the
drive.

Something else to check, open Help and Support on the start menu, type
Search in the help and support search box and press enter. A number of
topics should come up including a troubleshooting option that might help
resolve this issue.

In the start menu search box type ind, select indexing options, select
modify,select show all locations, then select any folders on your D:\ drive
that you want indexed.
