Searching with Vista

I have music files in my Music folder and Word and Excel files in my
"Homework" folder. But, when I click start-> search-> and type in "alan" (to
find all of my alan jackson songs, which are all located in my Music folder)
only 1 alan jackson song shows up. Why? I have like 20 Alan Jackson songs
and the filename for each of them is "Alan Jackson - Song Name". Also, if I
type one of the words in the filename of one of my homework problems Vista
search will not find it. But it finds other files in my Homework folder.
Why is this? Is my hard drive defective?

It just means Vista hasn't indexed those files yet. Are they newer files
(just added) or have they been there a while?

I also am having so many naggy little problems with mine. I have a premium. But the one thing I am starting to get is the permissions are almost half why these windows wont open for anyone. Something microsoft should have thought about in the first pc instead of demoting us back to little kids and getting permissions to talk to the next door neighbor.

like bf2142 I always get asked if I want to 'allow it???

That would be due to the fact that the people who wrote the program told it
to run in admin mode.

Why in the hell does a game need admin privileges?

Perhaps the writers of software should be writing apps to run in user mode.

Did you know a game running in admin mode is more likely to take down the
whole system than if it were a user mode process?

GG - try leaving your PC on all night for a day or two. Vista indexes
files when the computer is on but not in use.

Good luck.

For some strange reason, Vista searches only in folders that have been indexed. Access "Indexing Options" to see what is being indexed and what changes you can make.
