This update, 925672, (MSXML 4.0, SP 2)
keeps repeating itself, constantly re-installing/ re-updating on my
computer.

How can I stop this?

This update has loaded several times, at least five times or more, and
each time the progress report says the update has correctly been done.

Though I am not asked to:
I restarted my computer and it kept still downloading the update.

Please advise?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Hi Robert,

First you should clear the update database:

Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter

--> net stop WuAuServ

--> Click Start, Run, type: %windir% and press
Enter.

--> In the opened folder, rename the folder
SoftwareDistribution to SDold.

--> Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter.

--> net start WuAuServ.

--> Tried Windows Update again.

Then try downloading and installing the update from the following link:

MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2

Hi Robert
Have you read other threads re this KB?
Sometimes responders get fed-up responding to the same Q with the same
reply?

Sorry, I am among those who bring up the same question. It seems difficult
sometimes to find the right search words. Thanks to those like Anton who can
simply post a quick answer or pointer.
It points up another issue though that while a patch has been found, the
problem has not been fixed by Microsoft since users continue to come in with
the same problem. Apparently something generates corruption of the software
distribution log. It also seems if update software can display multiple
identical installs, it could also be able to figure this problem out for
itself.

Search/find is easier if you use newsgroups and not that archaic/error prone
web interface discussion group
If you want info re the newsreaders etc, do ask
