I have done this update numerous times on multiple computers and it says it's
been updated but then pops right up showing its ready for updating. I am not
getting an error code. Anyone else having this trouble?

I'm having the same issue. I don't know what's wrong, but I DID just have an
error message for another update I just installed that required me to install
a hotfix from Microsoft, although I'm really not sure if anything was wrong
or was even fixed by the hotfix. Anyway, after I restarted my computer, I
received a notification to install kb931784 again (not the update that caused
the error message). Every time it's installed, I recieve a notification to
install it again. Not sure if the two issues are related or not.

I'm having the same problem and have installed this update atleast 10 times.
I didn't think much about it until I checked my update history at the MS web
site. Each install in the history says it was okay with no errors. Anyone
know what's going on?

Assuming you're on Windows XP SP2:

Try downloading the update manually via DownloadCenter:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...d-a9f1eae19b51

*Save* the file to a folder your harddisk (let me call it "C:\Downloads"),
do *not* execute it from within your browser.

Afterwards type the following under "Run" in the Start menu:
"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe" /o

The parameter "/o" (o like overwriteOEM) should do the trick for you.
Note the blank between the last quote sign and the parameter /o!

I'm having the same problem and tried Freudi's informative solution.
Eventually I got this error msg.:

"KB931784 Setup Error
Setup cannot update your Windows XP files because the language
installed on your system is different from the update language."

My computer is a Medion MD 8808 Multimedia pc with a factory installed
XP SP2 Home Edition pre-configured for Danish.

Maybe the KB031784 update erroneously was let loose by Microsoft on a
larger group than it was meant for?

I have another pc with W2k installed; I'll try and see if it has similar
problems.

Well, the you only need to download the Danish version of KB931784
and adopt the above for the changed EXE name:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=da

"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-DAN.exe" /o

And disappeared automatically after some minutes or at least after you've
applied the "installation" of KB931784 _one_ more time?
