This has no relation to Win 2K SP4. It has to do with the SP level of MDAC.
KB92779 replaces KB832483. So, if it installed properly, then there's no
need for KB832483. There should be a KB927779.log located in the WINNT
folder. The update will show in the registry as -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Data Access\MDAC25\SP3\KB927779\Filelist
To see if the files for KB927779 are of the correct Version, go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS07-009.mspx
Click the plus sign next to Security Update Information under 'General
Information'
Now click the plus sign next to
' Microsoft Data Access Components when installed on Windows 2000 (all
versions) '
Scroll down to 'File Information'
Check the files listed for Microsoft Data Access Components 2.5 Service
Pack 3 and compare them against the files on the system using the steps
laid out under 'Verifying that the Update Has Been Applied'
To stop the reoffering of KB832483, please do this ... open the services
console ...
Start > Run > type in
services.msc
Click OK or press Enter
Double click on Automatic Updates
Click the Stop button
Navigate to the WINNT\SoftwareDistribution folder
Open the Download folder and delete *all contents* of it
Do the same for the EventCache folder
Close the window and empty the Recycle Bin
Go back to the services console and reenable Automatic Updates by
clicking the Start button
Make sure it's still set to Automatic under 'Startup type'
Initiate a manual visit to Windows Update and see if KB832483 is
reoffered, please.
