secure chat connection

I live in I-R-A-N and as you might have guessed aready, I have to be careful
about what I say. The server I use for Usenet allows for a secure
connection, which to my limited knowledge, prevents anyone from
eavesdropping on the connection.

I also want to use a chat program the same way (securely). I have Live
Messenger, Yahoo
Messenger, IRC software (a couple), ICQ etc. However, I cannot use them
securely.

I do have Vidalia (Tor's Windows interface) installed, however I cannot set
any of the chat software to work with it. And even if I did, because of a
slow dial up connection, it takes forever to establish a tor network
connection--sometimes cannot connect at all. so I prefer NOT using Tor.

I have another software which allows me to pass the f-i-l-t-e-r-s and get to
the c-e-n-s-o-r-e-d sites using a browser. But I cannot use its p-r-o-x-y
settings
for any of the chat software.

Please guide me (in plain English and as detailed as possible) in using an
ABSOLUTE secure way to use a chat software. I hardly know anything about
p-r-o-x-i-e-s and related categories.

It is difficult for me to check all the newsgroups for answers, so please
send your responses to the following email address:

888brian.jayman at gmail.com (remove 888 for a proper email address)

Regards,

Brian

Greetings Brian,

I suggest you just use Skype as if you only use it with other Skype users (not make calls to
the phone network), it's encrypted end to end.
