Security Patches Keep Show In History As Installed?

I am attempting to install Security Patches 823559 (MS Windows) and
KB837009(Outlook Express). I have Windows 98SE and Outlook Express 6. I
have installed these two patches to my computer approximately 7 times. Each
time it says "Installation successful", but the next time I run my Windows
Update, they come up again, and so I download them again. When I go into my
History download list, each is listed approximately 7 times - all showing
Installation successful. Thank you

Check to see if both updates are listed in Add/Remove Programs in
the Control Panel. ( The update for OE will listed as such, not
KB837009 ). If they are listed, uninstall them and reboot the
system. Then head back over to Windows Update and choose to download
them, not install them from WU.
When the downloads are finished close IE, temporarily disable the
installed antivirus software, and then install them.
