Security update fails to install........

I keep getting this message

Installing Security Update for Windows XP (KB902400) (update 1 of 3)...
failed!
Installing Security Update for Windows XP (KB901017) (update 2 of 3)...
failed!

I have downloaded the updates fine they just won't install. I have done this
about 3 times by automatic and manual.

Any ideas???????

I had the same problem. After 3 attempts I turned off my PC restarted, turned
off the AV, firewall and the other computer on my network and logged directly
into the website to update. It then downloaded and installed fine. However,
now toady I cant get the UPdate site to initialize....
