Security update failures (Windows 2000)

I discover that since sometime in January almost every update has failed.
The screen says to click the "failed" icon for the explanation and how to
deal with the failure. I click on the icon and nothing whatever happens.
So now I have about 150+ failed updates.

.... since January?

Have you tried looking in your event logs?
Tried getting one of the failed updates manually (downloading the executable
from the KB article and installing it yourself?)

150?! Since January?! Windows 2000?!

Which part are *you* exaggerating/not explaining?
