security update KB885835

for several days have tried with automatic update and manual updating to
install security update KB885835 with no luck. I do get error code of
80070003.. ony one have clue what the error code means and how I can correct
this problem of updating? thanks William

Have a look at this MSKB article, "You receive error message 0x80070003 when
you try to update Windows from the Windows Update Web site":
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=836949

If the above doesn't solve the problem, then try clearing out the DataStore
and Download folders in the %windir%\SoftwareDistribution directory as per
these instructions:

I looked at the first link and was lost on the modifying my regestiry.
The second link did not work. here is copy of the windows update log i got
the error code from, maybe you can make sence of it I'm not 100% sure of how
to read it.

If by "The second link did not work" you mean that it did not link to the
site, as opposed to your meaning that you performed the steps in the
resolution and it didn't solve the problem, that may be due to the length of
the URL.....the wrap "breaks" the hyperlink. Either copy/paste the entire

Hi Patti,

I am also having this problem on one system. The last 5 Windows Updates
will not install, and I get this error each time. I have done what you
suggested (and others on this discussion group) with no luck. I even did a
repair install of XP, and still no luck. TweekUI was never installed on this
system. Any suggestions?
