Hello,

This is not a question but an attempt to tell Microsoft that Security update
KB911562 screws up my computer. Shortcuts in some folders cease to function
and some application will not open. I first had the problem after installed
the latest batch of updates at once. I found out it was this update after
using system restore to go back and then reinstall each update one at a time.

See:

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security
update MS06-015 (15 Apr-06)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/918165

<QP>
.. Unable to access special folders like "My Documents" or "My Pictures".
.. Microsoft Office applications may stop responding when you attempt to save
or open Office files in the "My Documents" folder.
.. Office files in the "My Documents" folder are not able to open in
Microsoft Office.
.. Opening a file through an application's File / Open menu causes the
program to stop responding .
.. Typing an address into Internet Explorer's address bar has no effect.
.. Right-clicking on a file and selecting Send To has no effect.
.. Clicking on the plus (+) sign beside a folder in Windows Explorer has no
effect.
.. Some third-party applications stop responding when opening or saving data
in the "My Documents" folder.
</QP>

The Registry edit referenced in Resolutions section of 918615 above can be
implemented by downloading:

HP's Share-to-Web software - Fix (Line 383, Right)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use: Download the .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want
to right click and use Save Target As). Double-click the vbs file. You will
be prompted when the script is done.

The problem is with MS06-014, not MS06-015.

I'm having similar problems after installing this update today! I can no
longer open my photo viewer software or download pictures from my camera.
I've tried uninstalling, then reinstalling photo viewer software but it makes
no difference.

Is there a way UNINSTALL this update. How do I do that?

What is your Operating System (Which version of Windows?)
911562

IN Win ME/9x/2000, there is one ESSENTIAL thing to note
THE 911562 PATCH FOR MDAC2.8RTM DOES NOT WORK!!!
It breaks Help & Support, amongst other things.

Best advice is upgrade to MDAC2.8SP1 from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
then visit WU again for the new patch - which works properly with the SP1
files.

You might want to consider upgrading to W2K or XP as 98 will no longer
get security patches even though MS admits it needs more.

Yes it will - as I said previously...
"IN Win ME/9x/2000, there is one ESSENTIAL "
