After posting my problem about my Outlook Express, I've been reading all of
the other problems people are having with their computer too. What the heck
is in the update, what security problem is Microsoft fixing, what machines
did they try it out on before they released it and how are they going to fix
the fix. I'd really like to have my Outlook Express working again, I hate
going online to Yahoo to read my mail and send my mail. Can any one out
there explain to me in non-IT language, what the security update was for?

Whats the KB? I am currently uninstalling all updates including SP2 and going
to reinstall to see if it fixes things. I have opened a call and the lady who
spoke with me said that since 6 of our 7 computers were fine..then it must be
user error...HA! same user..duh. Anyway I still am getting the OE could not
be started . The application was unable to open OE message store. Your
computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact your admin.
ox8007007E, 126 then when I hit ok it says MSOE.dll not initialized. OE may
not be installed properly. Then since I gave up and just have been using
Outlook instead, the problem is if the computer sits longer than a few
minutes without being used, it locks up and has to be rebooted. Ill let you
know what happens after all updates are taken off...I may not even have
access...BUHAHAHAHA but I have another computer to complain from. Cross your
fingers for me

This is just one of the many issues i'm dealing with since the latest
updates ran - I'm NOT happy because I can't get any work done - I'm looking
at having to spend an entire day formatting and reinstalling my computer so
I can get some work done because nobody seems to know what the problem is -
of course, everyone's first thought is to blame norton internet security,
but without norton even isntalled everything is still blocked and all the
other browser issues i'm having remain

Uninstalling NIS does /not/ restore the Registry to its state predating the
install of NIS!

Thanks for all of you responses. I still believe this is a problem that both
MS & Norton-Symantic have to work together on. And the calls made to MS
support have to be addressed by MS. If one or the other send out updates of
any kind, they MUST take in to consideration the amount of people out there
that have & run both systems together. MS & Norton are probably the most
used products. I still have not gotten a permanent fix to the problem. All I
know is that if I disable my NIS and then open my OE my mail downloads and
I'm able to send email again. I won't have a fix until either MS or NIS
sends me an "Automatic Update".
Thanks again people!

Hi

I don't use Norton's and I can assure you this, MS and Norton's will NOT and
do NOT work together.

Microsoft has made it perfectly clear to me that they do NOT support running
"any" virus protection or firewalls on Windows, not even their own MS
Spyware program.

ALL they support is Windows and products bought from Microsoft.

This is what I have repeatedly been told, even from their researchers on
these problems.

If you are able to format, install windows and update with no other software
on your machine, their job is done, end of story.

They do not seem to understand that people don't own computers to ONLY
browse the net, run Office and play solitare.
That does not matter to them, however.

It's obvious that recent updates have hose probably half the machines in use
(many don't know it because updates silently fail), but MS still refuses to
find and fix the problems.

This update was the one that dealt with the graphics rendering issue
discovered a few weeks back. It caused one of my customers systems to
constantly reboot its self. Once removing it he was back up and running. He
has a 4 year old system with the original XP professional installed on it.
Twice this update did the same thing to his PC. Needless to say he is staying
clear of that update.
Not sure if it has something to do with the age of the graphics card or the
original XP install though
