Security Update for Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (KB943973)

On my XP systems I see the following update listed;

Security Update for Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (KB943973)

Strange since I don't have Microsoft Works installed on any of them!

I do have Office 2003 installed however...

Is it OK/safe to take this update or should I continue to ignore it?

At the very least it is misleading to say the least - why should a MS Works
update be listed when it is not installed?

That makes absolutely no sense at all...

Reading the link you kindly supplied I could understand the logic if as in
the example listed MS decide to offer you updates for Microsoft Office 2003
as an upgrade over Microsoft Office XP Pro

But to offer an update to MS Works when;

a. it has never been installed - ever
b. is obviously not an upgrade to an existing package to tempt you into
spending the $ to upgrade

seems absurd to me.

Oh well...back to ignoring it then ;^)

Hi,

There is a link on the ms update page to...

'MS08-011: Description of the security update for Microsoft Works
File Converter: February 12, 2008'
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943973)

that suggests that the update is for MS Office 2003 (SP2) and is
related to the works filter (used by Office).
I.e. it should be ok for you to install.
