security update trouble

when I install security update 2, I find that my internet doesn't want to
work! Any suggestions?

Do you mean SP2 ? If so, have you ensured that the system is free of all
malware prior to installing it?
You could also attempt to rebuild the Winsock stack once SP2 is
installed by going to Start, Run, typing in

cmd
Click OK

At the Command Prompt, type in

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter. Restart the system.
