Sorry it didn't work, looks like it has not installed properly, just
enough to screw up the updates system and not allow you to uninstall /
re-install it.

Its a bit technical though, may help.
The other thing you can try is turn system restore off then Ctrl Alt
Delete - force the update prompt to stop and reboot. Because its not
installed correctly Windows thinks its not installed so keeps
prompting, system restore may be causing it to retry on re - boots.
Probably won't do any good and even if it does stop the irritation you
still have a broken critical update which needs fixing.
You have to get it out properly before you can re-install it, I don't
know enough to help any further, hopefully someone more experienced
than I am will enlighten you.
