Hello everyone - I keep trying to install this update, but it fails. When I
click on the failed icon as instructed to see why it failed - nothing
happens. Any help?

Possibly you have a third-party popup-blocker which is interfering with the
correct opertaion of Windows Update. Disable any popup-blocker that might
be on the PC.

What does it say when you click on the red "failed" cross in the Status
column in Update History?

Nothing happens - not even if I disable my pop-up blocker.

This indicates that something is wrong with Internet Explorer. Try the
following procedure as a first response:

1. Completely disable all anti-virus and popup-blocker applications.
2. In Internet Explorer, pull down the Tools menu and select "Internet
Options".
3. Click tab "Security"
4. Click the globe labelled "Internet"
5. Click the button "Custom Level"
6. In the box "Reset custom settings", select "Medium".
7. Click "Reset"
8. Click "OK"
9. Click "OK"

Are you now able to click on the red "failed" cross and get a popup with
diagnostic information?

If that doesn't work, you might be driven to perform a "Repair" of Internet
Explorer 6 in XP.

OK - this time I was able to click on the red cross - it says error 0x8007F07
It tells me to try and reinstall - but I"ve tried about 20-30 times and it
doesn't work.

There must be 8 characters after the "0x" in the error code, you have posted
only 7. Please confirm the exact error code being reported.

The corrective procedure for this error is posted in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798
(it is listed as the last entry in the symptom list)

Good luck!
