Hi,
I have, on many occasions, recieved a Security Update for Windows XP (KB927779). However, I have NOT been able to install it on my laptop (IBM ThinkPad R51, 512 RAM, 40 GB). The message I receive during an aborted installation is that unable to install security update. What is this update about? What is the installation problem about? Can you help me, please? Hi,
I am a rookie to this kind of stuff. Can you help me navigate to the Windows Directory (where, as you mentioned, I could find KB927779.log)? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Hi,
Thanks so much for your guidance. As recommended by you, I logged in Safe Mode and could navigate to Navigate to WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ However, when I Right clicked $hf_mig$ and chose Properties, I could see NO Security tab. What could I see were General / Customise. Under General, I could see attributes like Read Only, Hidden, Archive. Under Customise, I could find folder options, etc. So from here, how do I go about? You *must* logon as Administrator to be able to see the Security tab.
There should also be a Sharing tab. Disable Sharing by putting a check mark next to 'Do not share this folder'. Click Apply, OK. The Security tab should now be visible. You *must* logon as Administrator to be able to see the Security tab.
There should also be a Sharing tab. Disable Sharing by putting a check mark next to 'Do not share this folder'. Click Apply, OK. The Security tab should now be visible. There is NO need to install 3rd party software to access the Security tab in XP Home, Bharat.
