Security Updates for Microsoft Office 7/11/2006

I am getting exactly the same result (i.e. failure to install) and error code
(0x80070643) as described by Peter Cox on both of the Security Updates for MS
Office (KB914455 && KB917151). Installation was attempted on Server 2003,
standard edition (not R2) with MS Office 2003 Pro, both patched up to the
moment.

Like Peter, I would appreciate any suggestions.

Sorry to say that did not work. OSE is running, but same problem and same
error.

In Internet Explorer > Help > Online Support > paste error number
into the "Search Microsoft.com for:" text box. This got result

Has this PC ever had any so-called "Registry Cleaner" (including the one at
Windows Live Safety Center) run on it?

If so, the Office installation might now be damaged.

Make sure the "office source engine" is running. Visit MSConfig and check
processes for office source engine, or go to administrative tools >> services
and check that office source engine is started. Then try to install the
updates.
