Security Updates

I have attempted to download automatic security updates 2 times and both
times when it restarts, the computer gets hung up and I have to restart again
and then the computer fixes the problem by restoring the computer to before
the updates. Someone help

When Windows 98 does this to me - I just reload it - faster.
