I am running Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106. I
downloaded Cumulative Security Update for IE 6 Service
Pack 1 (KB867801) today. After it finished, computer
restarted. Got the following on my screen when it
rebooted:
Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2
%1 : %2

What does this mean? I've had it show up before when I
loaded security updates. Thanks

Yes to both. I have Norton Systemworks 2003 that updates
regularly.

Kathy,

Turn off/disable Norton System Doctor when you're doing updates IF
it's the wininit.ini file that is the issue.
IMHO, NSW and Win ME are NOT compatible . Check the Windows ME
General and Software newsgroups to see all the posts concerning
issues with NSW and Win ME.
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx
Click the Windows link in the left frame to view the Win ME NG's.

Here's hoping that the wininit.ini file is the issue and that NSW
has not damaged the system restore hierarchy. Try the suggested
resolution in the MSKB article from the link that was included
previously.
