My HP Pavilion Media Center PC – model #m7747c, Vista Hom
Premium,*(config follows) is 23 days old today.
I am really questioning my sanity with this system for many reasons
and while I won’t bore you with the details of the many frustration
experienced, I am so hoping someone can help me, and perhaps hel
anybody else who may be experiencing what I am.

Just one question here. Many others questions may follow:

When I put the computer in sleep mode and then wake it up, all Interne
connection is lost and I have to restart the system to establis
Internet connection.

Not the end of the world, but is this the way it is supposed t
be?????

After two hours today, one HP TECH guy, says YES. “Of course you wil
lose internet connection after putting your computer in sleep. Afte
all, everything has to sleep!”

Previous HP email, chats, and tech phone questions yielded all kinds o
things to do: many of which I tried, short of a system recovery
because who wants factory settings wiping out everything I’ve tried t
tweak?

Microsoft wont’ talk to me as I am to contact HP support. Betwee
emails, phone calls and chat sessions I’ve WASTED easily 30-40 hour
with HP on this and other issues. Just amazing what an individual en
user has to put up with!!!

So: Is Sleep supposed to work the way I thought, eg. saving all tha
one was working on at the time of sleep (including web pages) an
resuming and function normally upon wake up????

Or should we all just forget this a take a nap????

*My Computer Specs follow:

From Command Prompt:
Sleep states available: “Standby (S1 S3) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep
Standby (S2) The system firmware does not support this standby state.

If the above is a clue, is there anything I can do about changing th
firmware?
