Selecting which programs automatically load in an identity?

When I startup or reboot, several programs automatically load by choice in
my main identity. I've set up a couple identities. When I log off my main
identity and log on to my gaming identity, for instance, I do not want the
auto loading programs to load. Is there a way to set which programs auto
load in an identity - Thanks for your help - IM

Depends on where they're loading from. You can remove items from
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run and add them back in
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run for each identity you
want them running under. Likewise, you can move startup folder items from
all users (default user) to each individual user.

However, it's a manual process.

Hi,

Most of these load across all user profiles. Instead, disable the program
from loading unilaterally by either checking the program's settings or
running msconfig and disabling it on the startup tab. Then place a shortcut
for desired programs into the individual user's startup folder here:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\ Start Menu\Programs
