send a wink or nudge option greyed out

I have selected the option in Options/Messages but in the message window
"Send a wink" and "Send a nudge" are greyed out in the Action menu. This is
not true with all contacts. Is there a setting or option that I may have
missed?

If the contact you're trying to send a wink/nudge to is using a Messenger client which
doesn't support these functions then they'll be grayed out. That's why it's only showing for
certain contacts.
