I have a new laptop with Vista and travelling in Brazil. My home desktop has
Windows XP with Outlook. I'm trying to communicate with it, but error keeps
coming up. "The connection to the server has failed...........socket
error:10060
Error number:0x8000". What does this all mean. Please help, I'm
technologically semi-literate.
Thanx.

Joe.

Brazil may not have XP so you may need to piggy bank thought a different
server.

You say "I'm trying to communicate with it." Did you mean the
laptop or your desktop?
You have given us only a small part of the error message; we
will need to see it verbatim. Right-click on it, copy, then paste
it into a reply here.

Windows Mail will not communicate with your desktop. If you're trying to
get your mail on the laptop, set your desktop mail program to leave a copy
on the server and have the laptop connect to your mail servers with the same
settings your desktop has. You can also tell WinMail to leave a copy on the
server on the Advanced tab of the account properties.

BTW, I don't believe the "error: 0x8000" you quoted.
