I have been using Windows Live Mail for several months and have sent and
recieved email. Now when I try to send I get this message;
An unknown error has occurred.

Subject 'Test'
Server Error: 421
Server Response: 421
Server: 'mail.avisrd.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC67
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
I can send mail on my other computer using Outlook and I have deleted the
account from Windows Live Mail and reinstalled and get the same message. I
currently have one message with no attachments in the Out Box. Any
suggestions?

Is the SMTP server correctly configured?

Is the name "mail.avisrd.com" correct> Or should it be "smtp.avisrd.com"
Are you required to do secure authentication; if so, your port number
appears incorrect.

Here are the troubleshooting instructions that are associated with
mail.avisrd.com:

WLM security settings for send mail

When I am connecting to WLM from a hotel I can receive mail, but can't send.
There's no error message only the failed task message. I looked at the
security settings and even though I checked use same settings as send when I
try to send WLM asks for a user name and password. If I check OK and then go
into tools>accounts>servers>outgoing settings the selection is now reset to
'log on using" user/password. These two entries are correct, but again I
cannot send mail.

XP Pro, SP3

Any advice?

Hotel, eh? Most ISP's block smtp requests coming from outside their domain.
If you use a public access point/hotel network, you may be prevented from
sending mail. In such a circumstance your ISP may provide either...

1. a webmail site from which you can access your email and send messages
2. a "secured" smtp server requiring you to authenticate (send user
name/password) to send mail (in addition to your "normal" authentication to
receive mail.

For "2" above, you'll need to contact your ISP for setup instructions
(server name, port number, type of encryption required, if any) used to
remotely authenticate to their smtp server. The link I passed below gives
some (generic) instruction on how to set up smtp authentication.

I had a similar problem. One email had an improper address so it remained
in the Out box. I kept getting an error message when I tried to send
emails. I deleted that email in the Out box and that stopped the error
message from displaying. It appears the subject of your message in the Out
box is "Test".

Use the Outgoing smtp server and settings for the isp used by the hotel or change(if your isp permits) your outgoing port to 587 or 465(you may or may not be required to use SSL) with Outgoing authentication set to 'yes'/

Thank you for your help.
