Hey folks, any idea how to fix this?? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only 1
having this prob

BUT, if you add a shortcut (to a networked computer, so you can copy
files),if its off, it'll hang computer

I thought the prob was because I've got an internal card reader. So, I put
an entry in the registry to hide them

BUT this didnt fix the hanging (thats how I found out having the computer
off (the one I added under sendto as a shortcut, causes it).

So, how would you fix this, without removuing the shortcut to the networked
computer??

Any info appreciated

Cheers

Your computer is trying to resolve the destination. That always takes a
while when it is not available. AFAIK, the only solutions are:

1. Get rid of the SendTo.
2. Don't use it when the destination is not available.

Well thats pretty hopeless. Whats the point in adding it

I got someone with Win7 to try it, it was fine.

If MS can fix it in Win7, then they can fix it in Vista

Then for gosh sakes, turn on the other computer before trying to click on
an invalid shortcut.

Well thats not the point, (and doesnt apply) since Im not clicking on the
link to it

There are other shortcuts there (the slots to the reader, and the other PC)
as well as winzip / burning to cd option etc

I just read your original post...

And now I see my incorrect assumption, so I do apologize.

What you are seeing strikes me as pretty mysterious (duh!), and I guess
that was why I misinterpreted what you said. I wish I could help.

No probs at all. Yup it seems to be a tricky prob. And a hard one to solve.

I would say thats the only way to fix it tho (dont have the shortcut there
in the 1st place lol)

But its not much of a fix. Oh well, guess I cant do much about it
