Serious Icon Refresh Problems

I'm having a really annoying icon display problem with Vista where icons
don't refresh automatically and I'm required to refresh manually using
right-click > Refresh. This occurs whenever I change the view within a
folder to any icon size other than the existing size. The icons appear
pixelated or don't change at all until I manually refresh them. Something
similar happens whenever I drag files to or empty the recycle bin - the
recycle bin icon disappears leaving the text behind. I have to refresh the
desktop to bring it back again. Any help appreciated.

Update your video card driver. See below for general drivers information. If
you've already updated the driver, roll it back to one that works.

Other than that, we'd need to know if you've always had the problem or, if
not, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't.
Your computer's hardware specs (processor and amount of RAM) and make/model
might help.

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model
machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor or System Information for Windows.
