I have not been able to get windows calendar to work for reminders whe
not running. However, I have found a rather elegant workaround solutio
as follows
Download a program called 'PowerMenu.exe'. It is freeware. It adds th
ability for most programs to minimize to the system tray by righ
clicking on the minimize button
1. Download 'PowerMenu.exe'. No need to install, just put it in an
folder as it's home base.
2. Put 'PowerMenu.exe' shortcut in startup using the command lin
option -hideself o
3. Put Windows Calendar in startu
Both programs will launch on startup. Powermenu will not show anywher
except the active application list (it is running in the background)
Windows Calendar will show full screen and display any reminders; the
right click the minimize button in Calendar and a menu option generate
from powermenu will allow you to minimize to the system tray. In thi
way, Calendar runs all of the time but is minimized to the system tra
and you only ever see reminders.
Not a perfect solution but a reasonable workaround for the problem o
not running when not active
