serv. pack 3 won't install

It gets to backup section then gives the following message:
hckr\adox.key.2.8 to file c:\windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$\reg00765.
5:access denied.
I am using administrator log in. i've checked all the support i can find
for this.

I am also getting the Access denied error

Okay, if you can't pick one -

First, make sure that your anti virus software isn't locking the registry
and preventing the installer from modifying the same.

Error message when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3: "Access is
denied" or "Service Pack installation did not complete"
