Server 2003 GC adding 2003 x64 R2 GC doesn't work

I have a customer that had a single 2003 Std (NON-R2) domain with
multiple non-GC servers, also 2003 Std (NON-R2). Because of Memory needs
on a new server they ordered 2003 x64 Std R2.

The new servers need to be GC's, but, when running DCPROMO on them, they
never complete the promo without errors and they never show a SYSVOL
folder associated with their \\servername\ list.

I believe this has to do with running ADPREP from the R2 Folder on the
servers, actually not having run it on the older NON-R2 server at all.

Should I run the ADPREP using the R2 version on the original server
(that is non-R2) and then again on the R2 servers, and then DCPROMO to
demote the R2 servers, then DCPROMO to repromote them?

TIA

Sorry for following my own post, but I think I've figured it out:

1) Download the ADPREP for R2 from MS's hot fixes, since I don't have
x32 R2 version of ADPREP

2) Run it on the 2003 non-R2 server

3) located the R2 Media folder \CMPNENTS\R2\ADPREP that came with the R2
OS disks and use that version on the R2 servers

Once all of them have the R2 prep done they should promo properly.
