I have installed WSUS 3.0 on win 2003 server enterprise without problems,
then i have performed a manual sinchronization with success. After that i have configured the same server to recive update from wsus like this: 1)created gpo "WSUS" with all configuration needed and linked it with domain controllers OU 2)i ran gpupdate /force to force gpo refresh and wuauclt.exe /detectnow too 3)after a while my server was showed in WSUS console 4)I have approved all updates for "all computers" and "unassigned computers" But at the end of these steps update doesnt work. The information recorded by this detection event is inconsistent with the information you are reporting as being observed in the WSUS console. However, the above log segment is incomplete -- it's missing the second segment of the detection which should include a reinitialization of the targeting cookie and a synchronization of the "extended udpate info". 2009-07-31 02:07:34:567 1148 20d0 PT Initializing simple targeting cookie, clientId = e26f1e78-c7d2-41a4-a53d-69f0bb6281c4, target group = Desktops; Vista, DNS name = dimension4550.onsitech.lmg 2009-07-31 02:07:34:567 1148 20d0 PT Server URL = http://wsus3/SimpleAuthWebService/SimpleAuth.asmx 2009-07-31 02:07:54:852 1148 20d0 PT +++++++++++ PT: Synchronizing extended update info +++++++++++ Your logfile shows no calls to the SimpleAuthWebService, and only one call to ClientWebService where there should be two. Also, the provided segment does not show the call to the ReportingEventWebService -- which is what actually updates the WSUS console with the current status information. Please do the following on the WSUS Server so that we can get a clean and complete log segment to work with: 1. Record the system time. 2. Restart the Automatic Updates service (net stop/start wuuaserv) 3. Run this command: 'wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow'. 4. Wait 30 minutes. 5. Post the entries from the WindowsUpdate.log starting at the time recorded in Step #1. -- Lawrence Garvin, M.S., MCITP:EA, MCDBA Principal/CTO, Onsite Technology Solutions, Houston, Texas Microsoft MVP - Software Distribution (2005-2009) MS WSUS Website: http://www.microsoft.com/wsus My MVP Profile: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pro...awrence.Garvin |

The full set of log entries is here, this time, and there are no errors present. Zero updates were discovered. There are only two reasons this can happen: a. There are no updates approved that are needed -- you've already stated the console is reporting updates as Needed. b. The FILES for those updates have not yet been downloaded, which prevents the WUAgent from downloading/installing the needed updates. Since we already know your BITS queue is clogged up trying to download previous AU-based files; it's quite likely that the =WSUS= updates are clogged up behind those other pending downloads. Please check the main page of the WSUS Admin Console and determine whether the WSUS Server has pending downloads for the server-side of the environment. If so, you'll need to clean out those old pending AU downloads.... there's an easy but dirty way to do this, and there's a clean but complicated way to do this. I prefer the easy but dirty way in this scenario: 1. Obtain the BITSADMIN v2 utility and run the command BITSADMIN /RESET /ALLUSERS to completely clear the BITS queue of all pending downloads. 2. Then run the command 'wsusutil reset' to re-queue the needed WSUS content downloads. -- Lawrence Garvin, M.S., MCITP:EA, MCDBA Principal/CTO, Onsite Technology Solutions, Houston, Texas Microsoft MVP - Software Distribution (2005-2009) MS WSUS Website: http://www.microsoft.com/wsus My MVP Profile: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pro...awrence.Garvin |

All work well now many thanks for your patience and your competence. Just another think about wsusutil resset command, so i can use this to reset the queue of wsus? |
