What are the URLs for Windows Update?

update.microsoft.com
www.update.microsoft.com
download.windowsupdate.com

Thats not enough.

As always there is no documentation telling me.

What page does the Start > Windows Update (or Microsoft Update) shortcut
take you to?

http://www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com is another URL. Depending on your
default (i.e., Windows Update; Microsoft Update), each one will take you to
the same website.

What you're looking for can be found here with some snooping and clicking.

http://update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...6/default.aspx
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...6/default.aspx (if
using Microsoft Update)

What problem are you trying to resolve? Knowing your target may help
others in helping you to resolve your problem.

There are more, for example:

http://c.microsoft.com
http://www.update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com

I assume there is no list avaiable.

All traffic to Internet is redirected to an transparent proxy and windows
clients without Internet should have access to windows update.

As there is no list of urls I have to allow .*microsoft.com
and .*windowsupdate.com.

But its not working stable.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885819/en-us
Not all of them are actually used by WU/MU/AU AFAIK.

Ehm, how do clients *without* "Internet" access Windows Update? <duck>

Nope.

Simply ignore that. It's not relevant for WU/MU/AU.

Andreas, if you don't want answers from others cause you're the only
trusted source in your universe, feel free to *not* ask others.

TIA,
