Servers not rebooting

Has anyone experienced 2003 servers that haven't fully
rebooted after performing Updates from a SUS server. It
seems our 2003 servers are stuck at a gray screen. These
servers are pingable but that's about it. They cannot be
accessed via terminal services. When any key is pressed
the servers start/finish their re-boot. I don't know if
the servers are getting stuck shutting down or if they are
getting stuck coming up.
Any help/comments would be appreiciated.
