I have received several notices in regards to Service Pac 3 - I had it set up
to automatically download and set up - since then, my system had basically
crashed - going to the safe mode window. After many weeek of reloading,
again system cracked, so I wipped out the C drive (lost everything) and
reloaded the complete system - again in the updates - Service Pac 1, 2 all is
going well ...... get to Service Pac 3 - it appeared to load correctly, and
again in its final reboot - the system has gone back to the safe mode screen
and I am back to square one.

Two questions: (1) is anyone else experiencing this? (2) how to you stop the
loading of service pac 3!

System is HP / Compac - about 2+ year old

Please help - many thanks

You'll need to upgrade to SP3. In the not-so-distant future, you won't be

Most people have not had problems but there are some that do.
If I where to install SP3 I would choose to download the SP3
file and not use Automatic Updates.

Your PC must be at least SP1 or SP2 level as SP3 will not
install on XP Gold.

I would also create an "Image Backup" of my drive prior
to installing SP3 just in case you do have problems.
Don't have any Image Backup software:
Try "True Image" (has a 15 day trial version available)
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...cts/trueimage/

If you use Zone Alarm Firewall (Free or Paid) then update to
version 7.0.483.
Warning do not install ZA version 8.0.xxx as it currently has
problems.

To add to the questions
I had loaded service pack 2, then had to remove since it made my multi media
extender stop working. Does anybody know if service pack 3 has the same
problems?

Thanks
