Service Pack 1 and MacAfee

Has anyone installed SP1 for Vista on a PC with MacAfee security suite? I
turned off all of my non-microsoft services and attempted a 3rd install and
it still did not install. Microsoft told me to completley un-install MacAfee
and then try to intall SP1 again. My question is, if anyone has done this;
will it work? I hate to waste another 3 hours doing an install and revert.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many driver problems that might contribute to an SP1 install
failure, but you will not know if McAfee is doing it till you test that.
Looking for the problem driver is likely to take longer than that, if it's
not your anti-virus. The question is not really, 'Does McAfee work? It does.
Better would be "Does it work on My particular combination of hardware and
software.?"

I ran the system file checker tool and it indicated a problem with MacAfee.
I turned it off and it still did not install. I am just wondering if anyone
else had this problem?

I've installed SP1 on a laptop and a desktop, both with Macafee up and
running during install.
In both cases no problems experienced at all.

Apparently you did not understand the above.
UNinstall it and then reinstall it after SP1 is installed OR, consult
McAfee's website or Help manual to *completely and totally* disable
McAfee prior to attempting another installation of SP1.

It could be that Macafee is not working on your machine.

It's quite intrusive, so I suspect it probably is......

I installed SP1 (full language(s) version) over Vista Home Premium, after
uninstalling the SigmaTel audio drivers and re-installing them after the
update completed AND with McAfee Security Center version 7.2 active. SP1 had
no problems installing and McAfee never 'said a word' about the update. I
guess I've been one of the lucky folks. I have not had one problem with the
SP1 update on my XPS 410 Dell machine. It works great.
