Service Pack 2 download failed

I had to repair my windows XP installation yesterday and I've updated the
windows update software but now it will not let me download the SP2 it
simply fails with no reason given - can't even start the download. Please

I did finally find an error code - 0x80246008 I have tried the download 3
times already and got the same thing

See if the Resolutions that are available from the Windows Update
Troubleshooter helps you to resolve the problem:

I too had my computer recently repaired and I cannot download the Service
pack 2 also. I get an error code-0x80200010 Help too!

I had the same issue. I lost my hard drive so I had to add my old Windows
XP. I went to the microsoft update page and let it auto update my computer.
The third update I finally got to the SP2 installation. After trying to down
load the program for about 5 hours, I would get a 0x80200010 error. Also, I
got pop ups about every 2 minutes.

I got around this by:
1) I went to a friends computer and went to
http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows...2download.html
I then downloaded the SP2 program itself not the autoupdate. (This is a
large file so you want to have a friend who has a DSL connection. It will
take about 8 hours using a 56K modem) I then burned the file on CD.
Microsoft said they would send me a CD, but it would take 4 to 8 weeks. The
SP2 at softwarepatch.com comes from Microsoft. I think you can download
directly from Microsoft if you want.
2) I started all over from scratch with the old Windows XP installation.
3) Next, I copied the SP2 program to my hard drive and ran it. (Good news is
you do not have to load SP1 to load SP2).
4) This solved my problem.
