Have you figured out the problem? I am receiving the same error. I have
tried with McAfee Virus protection enabled & disabled.

Yeah I can't download SP2 either, when it's preparing to download it comes up
with a 8007000D error.

As per other discussions.. (you can search for "80246005"). I found
downloading KB842773 works. Dowload it, restart, and try loading SP2 after
that.

Here's the link I used to update my XP SP1 on my networked computer.

Your error is not the same as the 802 one under discussion. Those of us with
that one found a fix, but I am not sure what you need for 8007000D. You
might try searching for "8007000" and seeing what you come up with. I did
that for the 802...failure and found one discussion that finally did the
trick, and I passed on what worked for me.

FYI: The topic where there is discussion of 8024605 first came up with a
solution is in a discussion entitled "XP2 Update" given by JR. Subsequently,
I added to this discussion. One other possibility if KB842773 doesn't do the
trick is to run: UnBlockXPSP2.EXE which you can get at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

But definitely try KB842773. If you go to the general page for that patch,
there are several entries. Use the link I mentioned or find the CORRECT
version that says it corrects XP ...

Tried deleting KB842773, not it won't install. Gave me the same "80246005"
error. Says it can't find the "branches.inf" file though it's right there.
Even tried copying it to the desktop. Also doesn't work after running
UnBlockXPSP2.EXE.

I have ordered the CD. But am I screwed without the KB842773?

Thanks.

I have 1 pc set up as a internet share with 2 pc on a switch behind it. The
main (Nortons) updated and one of the pc's (McAfee)behind it updated. My
wireless laptop(Nortons) is the one I'm having problems with.
