Is anyone else out there getting this?

I download the package, it initializes the installation, runs for about
twenty minutes installing things, and then it abruptly stops and gives me an
ACCESS DENIED dialog box. I then have to wait for another fifteen minutes
while it uninstalls everything it just failed to fix in the first place.

I'm logged in as an administrator. No other people logged in. No other
programs running. Running Windows XP. I've done a thorough check with both
Adaware SE, and Norton prior to attempting installation. None of the advice
I've been given by tech support via e-mail has done me any good. This is the
fifth time it's failed on me, with the same result and I'm about to conclude
that this Service Pack is a myth.

Hi

It might be a registry access issue.

Please see the the "Access denied" section here:

Hi

Note that the KB article 873148 is both misleading regarding what log
file to look in and it also fails to mentioned that you need to enable
verbose logging as well.

It's better to refer to the "Access denied" section here that point
out those issues with the KB article:

The article was updated recently. Unfortunately at the moment it is
temporarily unavailable. Perhaps it's being updated again.
You receive an "Access is denied" error message when you try to install
Windows XP Service Pack 2
(873148) - Provides information about an issue that may occur when registry
permissions prevent you from installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
