Hi,

I recently uninstalled service pack 2 to get an en earlier version of WMP
back, I was successful, but now I cannot reinstall sp2. I get an error saying
"an error in updating your system has occurred". I have no problem
downloading sp2, but it will not install. I have tried installing sp2 via the
net, automatic updates and even the full .exe package but had no luck, please
help.

Thanks

Make sure you have the latest Windows Installer package on your computer.
When you wiped out SP2, you may have gone back to an older version.
Try downloading Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2) at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Any clues in the WU Log?

Click start, select run, type: %windir%\windowsupdate.log

Towards the bottom where it fails.

Towards the end of the log it says " MicrosoftUpdate Failure Content
Install Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update
with 8007f070: Windows XP Service Pack 2".

There doesn't seem to be much information on the 8007f070 error.

That doesn't tell us much except what we already know unfortunately.

Perhaps run through this checklist : http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm
